The central street of the city holds the record for the number of renamings: Kupecheskaya, Grazhdanskaya, Stalin, XXII Party Congress, Leninsky Prospect, Chui Avenue. The construction and improvement of the street took place especially widely in the fifties. The architectural ensemble of Sovetskaya Square took shape.
