The Kyrgyz forest experimental station rose on the northern outskirts of Karagacheva Grove in 1947. Since 1990, it has been the Institute of Forestry and Walnut Growing of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, now bearing the name of P.A. Gan. “One of the most important objects of nature conservation is forests, and this is no coincidence. The importance of forests in human life, in the life of our entire planet, is extremely great. And first of all, it is determined by its enormous impact on the entire environment. The forest is a powerful regulator of the water and air basins of our entire planet. The forest is rightly called the lungs of the earth. The exceptional severity of the conditions in which our forests grow requires a very careful attitude towards them,” said the founder of forestry science in Kyrgyzstan, Honored Scientist of the Kyrgyz Republic, Professor Pyotr Alekseevich Gan (1916-1993) - the chief forester of Kyrgyzstan.
