Frunze

Greenhouse Above the railway, on the solid pebbles of the floodplain of the Ala-Archa River, the green quarters of the Botanical Garden were laid out in 1938-39 (founders I.V. Vykhodtsev, E.V. Nikitina, G.P. Svishchev, 1939). The park part of the garden and flower beds are located on 20 hectares. All work was carried out manually, earth was brought in by carts, boulders and cobblestones were taken away. Seeds, cuttings, bulbs, and seedlings were collected from different parts of the world into this open-air plant museum. A unique collection of wild Tien Shan varieties of apple trees, pears, cherry plums, and grapes was created. From here, from this park, decorative trees of Manchurian walnut, Sogdian ash, and Turkestan birch came out onto the streets of our city, into the sanatoriums and boarding houses of Issyk-Kul. Nowadays, most of the “old” territory of the botanical garden is occupied by urban development, part of it has been transferred to the city park “Friendship” (now “Ata Turka” park). In the old Botanical Garden on Gorky Street in the northern part there is an arboretum. Here, local and introduced plants are placed in sectors representing the flora of Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia, foreign Asia, the Far East, the European part, Western Siberia, the Caucasus and Crimea, North America, etc. The arboretum included a collection and hybrid fruit garden, a tree and shrub nursery, and a rose garden. In the southern part along Gorky Street there are flower and herbal plants, greenhouse plants and those growing in nature. Today, the Botanical Garden named after E.Z. Gareev is represented by a new territory of more than 150 hectares, which is located on the right bank of the Alamedin River, in the south-eastern part of the city.
