The Cholpon shoe company produced about 6 million pairs of shoes a year, employing more than 4,000 people. The hemp and jute factory was founded in 1941 on the basis of the evacuated Odessa factory named after Khvorostin. It was equipped with scrabbling and fulling machines for processing hemp and jute into hemp. Hemp was used to make ropes, ropes, fire hoses, twine, and various types of fishing nets. Hemp fabrics were used in navigation as sails. During the war, the hemp and jute factory had a mechanical section where mine casings were made. In 1982, the factory had 894 employees.
