The main entrance to the Karagachevaya Roshcha cultural park

In 1935, the “Park of Culture and Recreation” was organized in the Karagachevaya Roshcha. Paths were laid here, flower beds were laid out, a dance floor and fountains were built. The entrance to the park from Alma-Atinskaya (Usenbaeva) Street was decorated with a monumental arch, where shopping kiosks, a chess club, and a reading room were located. Behind the huge gates, the Frunzenian was part of a family of leaders. Sculptures of Lenin, Stalin and their comrades stood at full height.  The war stopped cultural construction, and then the Great Chuisky Canal cut the park into two parts and cut off the most picturesque and developed area from the main massif of the grove. The park was abandoned, the buildings were destroyed and modern buildings rose on their ruins. Karagachi June 1939 Photo from the collection of Evgeny Korovin.
