Architects G. Kutateladze, N. Ullas and others, 1984. Among the urban oasis, a man-made desert was created, coming to life only during festive celebrations or popular unrest. Faceless marble cubes of the White House and the museum, vulgar arches, occasionally turned on fountains, a giant statue of Lenin - these are all the attractions of Ala-Too Square. In the 80s, on the site of a well-equipped and inhabited area of the city, a grandiose construction of a new center began. The leaders of the project’s team of authors were N. Ullas and G. Kutateladze. Vast spaces were cleared for monumental structures, and entire neighborhoods were destroyed. Several new multi-storey residential buildings and administrative buildings were demolished. Part of the Panfilov Park, the City Stadium, the Summer Theater with the largest open-air auditorium, the Kyrgyzstan Hotel, and the House of Officers were destroyed.
