Men's parish school

on the corner of Nikolaevskaya and Dunganskaya streets, 1906. In 1909, the Pishpek men's parish school was opened at the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov. The parish schools had the goal of preparing students for district schools, and they were also tasked with the physical and moral development of children. Subjects of study in parish schools: reading, writing, arithmetic, the Law of God, moral teaching, basic home economics. Financing of parish schools was carried out at the expense of the local population: in cities - at the expense of urban societies. Parochial schools were located at mosques and churches. Initially, no special school buildings were built; houses were rented from wealthy citizens. The building in the photograph was built specifically for the school. Later, the 20th Soviet school, named after the director, Nikon Yakovlevich Tashlanov, worked in this building - Tashlanovskaya.
